The Mechromancer was the fifth Vault Hunter to be added to Borderlands 2, and was released after Borderlands 2 on October 9th as DLC. One aim of the class was to create a character for players who are not as good at first-person shooters as their friends are, but are still able to play alongside them. To that effect, one of the class's skill trees ([[Borderlands 2:]Best Friends Forever Best Friends Forever]) employs skills that help the player succeed, but at a limited degree of success. At the same time, the class's other skills for highly skilled players to promote high-risk, high-reward skill-based playing. Thus many see this class as both the easiest and hardest class to play in Borderlands, depending on skill tree choices.
The Mechromancer's Active Ability has the longest cooldown in which Gaige summons a robot called Death Trap that she built and can upgrade in her skill tree, to fight on her behalf. Gaige can augment her drone in much the same way Axton can augment his Sabre Turret.
